This is a special day for all USIU -Africa fraternity. from the students, to the Alumni, to the stuff and the whole USIU-Africa community at large. Freida Brown Day was created to celebrate , USIU- Africa Vice chancellor, Professor Freida Brown and her remarkable contribution Community Service and Development.
The university tries to foster a sense of caring and commitment as part of its education of students with the hope that they will incorporate Community Services and Development in their professional and personal lives. community service Program is mandatory for every USIU-Africa student as part of a degree qualification requirement.
The Vice Chancellor has seen the University greatly improve its relationship with community and stand out among other institutions of higher learning in aspect of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
FREIDA BROWN DAY 25, September
this is the official day for the occassion (freida brown Day). the day's program is designed to enable dedication of time and effort to the community in the morning session program while also achieving the unity of the USIU community for the Afternoon session program through sports and at the end of the games, a BBQ is served for all regardless of status. T-shirts and lapel will be given out.
ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS
The USIU Community participate in activities such as:
- cleaning up of the institution
- planting of trees/ grass
- donation of educational materials
- visiting children's home/ orphanage
- pruning and digging of waste pits
BENEFICIARIES
Prior to the Day, the university also identifies major renovation projects based on the need of the host institution. the project is done in collaboration with selected partners and then commissioned on Freida Brown Day. some of the Beneficiaries of Freida Brown -corporate Social Responsibilities Inititive include:
